CovMom offers theologically rich, practically encouraging resources to help mothers grow in grace as we glorify God and enjoy our children.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Alexandra. My husband and I have six kids (including four grown sons, three amazing daughters-in-law, and two younger children still at home).
Over the years, my understanding of Reformed and Covenantal theology has profoundly shaped not just my faith but also my parenting. Realizing that my children are not just my children but also my brothers and sisters in Christ transformed how I understood my responsibility as a mother. This perspective both brought into focus the importance of discipling our children, as well as lifted the burden of motherhood-perfectionism. God is faithfully working in my children’s lives, even when I’m struggling and falling short.
What I share here isn’t just from theory; it’s from decades of experience, shaped by godly mentors who came alongside me, offering encouragement and wisdom. Some were just a step ahead of me in parenting; others were like spiritual mothers or grandmothers, walking out the model of Titus 2: teaching what is good, 4 so that they may [c]encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.
I write from a Reformed and Covenantal perspective, firmly believing that Scripture is our ultimate rule for faith and practice. We move frequently and part of the joy of that is being able to worship and many different churches of many different denominational flavors, each faithfully preaching the gospel. We have maintained our membership in our stateside home church. I approach parenting and teaching with humility and prayer.
Through CovMom, I want to encourage you in your vocation of motherhood, as you nurture and disciple your children. I will point you back to Bible, challenge you to think theologically, and share what has worked in our family. I trust that you will be faithful in searching Scripture, trusting the Holy Spirit, and using wisdom in your family situation. As a parent, God has made you just the right mom for your children and He is your best guide.
May we grow in grace together, glorifying God and enjoying our kids!
